Postpartum Care

Your Recovery Matters Just as Much as Your Pregnancy.

The weeks and months following childbirth are a time of significant physical and emotional change. Postpartum care at Dr. Nader and Associates helps you recover from birth, manage new symptoms, and adjust to life as a new parent. Whether you had a vaginal delivery or C-section, our goal is to support a safe, healthy, and well-informed recovery.

What Postpartum Care Includes

Postpartum care refers to the medical and emotional support you receive in the 6 to 12 weeks after childbirth. It includes scheduled visits, symptom management, mental health screening, and guidance on everything from healing to infant feeding. Your first postpartum visit usually happens within six weeks after delivery, but we are here for you much sooner if concerns arise.

At your visit, your provider will check on incision or tear recovery, bleeding and uterine changes, breastfeeding or formula feeding progress, birth control options and family planning, sleep, nutrition, and hydration, and mental health screening for baby blues or postpartum depression.

Physical Healing After Birth

Your body goes through major changes during the postpartum period, and healing takes time. We help you navigate vaginal bleeding and changes in discharge, perineal or cesarean incision healing, breast engorgement, tenderness, or signs of mastitis, hemorrhoids and constipation, pelvic floor discomfort, and urinary or bowel changes.

We will guide you through safe pain relief, wound care, and when it is appropriate to return to physical activity.

Emotional and Mental Health Support

It is entirely normal to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or emotional after giving birth. Hormonal shifts, sleep deprivation, and the demands of caring for a newborn can all affect your mood. We screen for signs of postpartum depression and anxiety and provide resources including support groups, counseling referrals, medication options when needed, and strategies for partner and family support.

Asking for help is a sign of strength, and you do not have to navigate this alone.

Feeding, Family Planning, and Intimacy

Whether you choose to breastfeed, bottle feed, or do a combination, your provider can offer practical, nonjudgmental guidance on latching and positioning, managing soreness or blocked ducts, supplementing or transitioning to formula, and nutritional needs during feeding.

Because it is possible to become pregnant again soon after giving birth, we will also review your contraceptive options and help you choose a method that fits your timeline and goals. Discomfort with intimacy, bladder issues, or pelvic pressure are common after childbirth and are treatable. We offer support and referrals for pelvic floor therapy and related care.

Here When You Need Us

Do not wait for your scheduled postpartum visit if you experience heavy bleeding (soaking more than a pad an hour), fever or signs of infection, severe pain at an incision site, chest pain or shortness of breath, or severe mood changes. Prompt care can prevent serious complications and support your recovery.
