Understanding Diagnostic Evaluations
If an abnormality is detected during a screening mammogram or if there's an area of concern, our team of experienced radiologists may recommend a diagnostic evaluation. This evaluation may include additional mammographic images and/or a breast ultrasound. The radiologist uses these necessary tools to carefully assess whether the area in question is suspicious or not. It's important to note that it's not unusual for women to be called back for a diagnostic mammogram after their initial screening. This is more common in women with dense breast tissue.
